Colorkarma is excited to announce our first Design Dash Contest. With our partner Gerber Technology, we invite all designers and creatives to submit their colorful, inspiring, calming, fun and creative design patterns for face-masks.

The winning mask design will be produced in the Gerber Technology’s Innovation Center in New York City and sold on Colorkarma. The winning designer will be paid a license (percentage of sales) and receive a Gerber Technology subscription. See full contest rules and details below.

Dashing into 3D Design

Design Dash is for all designers to begin thinking of designing in 3D. Design processes were already moving towards 3D and digital. And the pandemic has only accelerated that transformation. To stay competitive designers and creatives need to embrace digital.

Designers can submit and vote for their favorite designs.

One company helping designers and producers is Gerber Technology. Their software helps people manage product development using digital tools. Their innovation center in New York serves as a micro–factory where they print, cut and sew products — all ON DEMAND. (I had the opportunity to tour their facility in February, check it out here) The center is not much bigger than a studio apartment, and helps designers and brands see what is possible with 3D design tools, digital processes and today’s production equipment.

Masks are an essential PPE item and a fashion accessory. This new Design Dash Contest is an opportunity for designers to start with 3D design and digital production. Any artist of any age can submit their designs and patterns.

It is a way to bring our inner creativity to the outside and share it with others. Submissions are free. Share your design with your friends, family and design colleagues. They can vote daily for their favorite design.
